TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TransCore Link Logistics Canadian Freight Index displayed its traditional summer decline in load volumes, decreasing 12 percent compared to June. However, year-over-year volumes for July jumped 25 percent, leading any load volumes for the month since TransCore Link Logistics started recording data.
Cross-border load volumes for July averaged 69 percent of the total. Cross-border loads into Canada and cross border loads leaving Canada to the United States were up 18 and 37 percent, respectively, compared to July 2013.
Intra-Canada load volumes represented 25 percent of the total volumes for July and were up 30 percent year-over-year.
Compared to the same period last year, truck levels continued to remain low for 2014. Although equipment postings increased 13 percent from last month’s volumes, volumes fell 10 percent year-over-year. The equipment-to-load ratio increased to 1.89 from 1.47 the previous month, but decreased from 2.62 the previous July. This demonstrates a 39 percent improvement year-over-year.
