MISSISSAUGA, JUNE 16, 2016—How often do employees get the chance to support a children’s charity while soaking their boss at the same time? Staff at TransCore Link Logistics did just that last week—raising funds for a chance to put two members of the management team into the dunk tank, and one, 26-storeys high.
On Friday, June 17th, Claudia Milicevic, General Manager of TransCore Link Logistics, will trust her life to a safety harness and helmet, and rappel down the 26-storey wall of London City Centre (TD Canada Trust Building). Other daredevils will be descending similar walls in 10 cities across the country as part of Rope for Hope with all funds donated to the Make-A-Wish charity dedicated to helping children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Not only do participants need nerves of steel, they also have to fundraise at least $1,500 to qualify.
So, how did the folks at TransCore Link Logistics manage to pull that off?
They spent last Friday afternoon in the parking lot, laughing and yelling and hurling balls at a target in hopes of plopping two team members in a dunk tank.
“The event not only raised almost $1,000 in just a few hours,” says TransCore Link Logistics Director of Marketing Karen Campbell-Jones, “it showcased how our staff came together as a community to rally for their boss with this daring initiative in support of a great cause.” The event also couldn’t have taken place without two of the company’s volunteer dunkees, Brian Lopez and Brad Aitken.
“And it was a lot of laughs.” Need proof it was fun? Click here.
“Giving back to the community is in TransCore’s DNA,” says Milicevic. “To date, we have donated over $250,000 to more than 75 charitable organizations.”
Milicevic will be participating in the Rope for Hope as a member of the Trucking for Wishes team of rappellers. Her teammates are: Aaron Lindsay and Katelyn Oke of NAL Insurance, Glenn Caldwell of Healthy Trucker, Dionne Castillo of Birdseye Solutions, Brandon Clark of Dalton Timmis, Doug Coleman of Doug Coleman Trucking, Geoff Topping and Lynda Crickmore of Challenger, Michael Foy of Travelers Finance, Lesley Grills of TTR, Roman Lewinsky of Navistar; Greg Schneider of Shepell and Lou Smyrlis of Newcom Business Media.
